vol. 2: make room in your inventory
Greetings, adventurers!
I suppose a new year means new things, because January and February are popular for launches of new shows, new seasons, and crowdfunding campaigns! So you’d best make room in your various inventories because there’s a lot packed into this issue…
The Voyage Forevermore
An Actual Play of Tavern Tales
After boarding a boat to a remote continent as strangers, three adventurers find their fates intertwined in The Voyage Forevermore, a swashbuckling fantasy adventure where money is sparse and hope is in abundance. GM Colton Flick draws the players into this story with ease and the collaborative nature of Tavern Tales shines through in delightfully rich descriptive moments. The rapport of the cast captures what it means to truly explore both as character and player in RPGs.

Dungeons and Daddies
An Actual Play of Dungeons and Dragons, 5th Edition (5e)
Dungeons and Daddies isn’t your average D&D Actual Play, and it’s definitely not a BDSM podcast. Torn out of modern-day reality into The Forgotten Realms, four Earth dads embark on an adventure (in a van, of course) to find their lost sons. Being a dad has never been harder, nor more complicated. DM Anthony Burch creates a perfect comedic climate for light-hearted and [mostly] wholesome moments, while effortlessly driving the story forward.
Recommended Starting Point: Episode 1 - A Man and His Handshake

Dust Wardens, by Nora Blake
Dust Wardens is a game about bonds. It's about polyamory and queer families and safe havens in a world that wants to hurt us. It's about seeing problems that others refuse to solve and taking the matters into our own hands. In this game, we will take on the role of the titular Dust Wardens, people bound together by a force called Limerence which allows us to draw upon potent magical powers.
The setting for Dust Wardens is a post-apocalyptic one, where rampant plant life has retaken a broken planet. A world where ghosts linger and witches commune with the spirits of objects to learn about the past. A world where nothing is transient, and everything comes back around. A world haunted by the evils of humanity left behind by those who came before us.
Unlike mostTTRPGs, Dust Wardens doesn’t use standard dice. It uses tarot cards rather than dice to create the story and the world, and has a focus on communal and collaborative play, both in and out of game. Dust Wardens is the queer RPG about community that you’ve been wanting, and you can buy it right now.

Kickstarter Launch: Decuma (Launched February 2)
Decuma is “the R&D for your RPG”: a tarot-inspired card game that helps the GM and their players collaboratively create all the important details for their campaign, including key locations, character connections, and setting conflicts.
Decuma uses a unique set of question cards that give the whole experience a feeling of mystical interconnectedness—as if Destiny herself is guiding the campaign! Decuma saves the GM a ton of prep time and can be easily customized to focus on (or exclude) specific aspects of campaign creation. Plus, Decuma can be paired with any tabletop RPG setting or system, including D&D, Savage Worlds, Powered by the Apocalypse, Pathfinder, and more—so you never have to worry about compatibility.

Kickstarter Launch: Safe & Sound, A TTRPG Zine (Launched February 2)
Safe & Sound features fantasy hideouts (and the NPCs who run them) for adventuring parties. In this zine, you’ll find special places for your heroes to use when they need to lay low or enjoy some downtime. These range from seedy dens filled with cool tunes to an extraplanar study run by an incorporeal lich, each with their own quests to send your party on. All of the content for this zine was specifically developed for Zine Quest - pretty cool, huh?

Kickstarter Launch: Descent into Midnight (Launches February 15)
At its heart, Descent into Midnight (DiM) is a game about community, family, and hope. It’s a tabletop roleplaying game that takes place in a technologically advanced aquatic civilization whose culture has never been touched by humanity. Bioengineering and psionic, or mental, powers allow the strange and varied species to communicate and interact with their surroundings no matter their physiology.
In the game, players take on the roles of guardians, defending their community from a physical, emotional, and even existential threat. The game focuses on the relationships between the guardians, the inhabitants they protect, and their internal struggles and dreams in the face of a corruption that threatens to change their world.
